LOUISE
In 2011, a sudden illness took me by surprise and led me into a surgically induced menopause. An experience I didn’t see coming my way so early in life.
It brought a profound realization that life’s twists and turns held lessons about my body I didn’t know. And I needed to learn to care for my health and my body systems.
However, I felt lost and confused by information overload from the internet. So where do I turn to for help?
I went from one health practitioner to another, not finding answers. I also meandered through the myriad of online information. My kitchen cupboards were brimming with half-full bottles of supplements. I didn’t know what worked and what didn’t. It was a vicious cycle of trial and error.
So, I went on a mission to educate myself and asking the right questions to understand the function of the body system was the key. We have more power to heal ourselves than we give credit for.
Initially, this led me to study and receive a Dr Berg Health Coach Certificate. Later, studying with the Functional Nutrition Alliance to become a Certified Functional Nutrition Counsellor.
Functional nutrition is not just about food but what can your body do or can’t do with it. It’s a foundational approach that examines the body as an interconnected network of systems rather than isolated parts of the body system (digestive, hormonal, immune, nervous, etc.) as interrelated. And a dysfunction in one system can ripple through others.
Functional nutrition urges you to look at your health from different perspectives. It considers your unique health history, diet, lifestyle and much more to address the underlying root causes of ill-health.
Now, I get to do what I love because I understand there’s more than managing symptoms. I love to help others struggling with health issues and not knowing how to navigate their health journey.
So let’s not just talk; let’s tackle your health and wellness challenges together.
which is, and which will be.
Let us learn from the past to profit by the present,
and from the present, to live better in the future.
