Indulge in a zesty twist to the classic hummus with our Creamy Avocado Hummus. Packed with the richness of ripe avocados and the tangy kick of apple cider vinegar, this dip offers a tantalizing fusion of flavors. Perfect for spreading on toast or dipping veggies, it’s a delightful addition to any snack or meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (as needed to adjust consistency)

Optional topping:

  • Red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or hot sauce for spicy flavor

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the ripe avocado, drained chickpeas, minced garlic, tahini, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the food processor as needed.
  3. If the hummus is too thick, add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt or lemon juice if desired.
  5. For a spicy option, add a pinch of red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or a dash of hot sauce to the hummus. Blend again until well combined.
  6. Transfer the creamy avocado hummus to a serving bowl.
  7. Garnish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or fresh herbs if desired.
  8. Serve the avocado hummus with your favorite accompaniments such as pita bread, vegetable sticks, or crackers.
